Ferenc Pál Biró, President of the Integrity Authority of Hungary and Florin Moise, the President of the National Integrity Agency of Romania signed a Memorandum of Understanding, at the 23rd EPAC/EACN Annual Professional Conference and General Assembly.
The two national anti-corruption institutions agreed to explore areas of common interest, to join forces and work together to design and implement evidence-based and tailored anti-corruption reform strategies. At the same time, they will engage in a constructive exchange on what works and why, build on the synergies and explore further opportunities to take stock of global anti-corruption reform trends, including the initiatives to create a non-conducive to corruption culture among citizens and promote the rule of law.
The document states: “By sharing common goals and on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit, all parties involved intend to cooperate and exchange knowledge, ideas, expertise and practices in promoting the rule of law and successfully mitigate the pernicious effects of corruption. Especially, in terms of sharing views, hands-on approaches and concrete practical procedures for the prevention and detection of corruption, conflicts of interest, as well as any other common area of practice”.
The authorities will also establish a Steering Committee to guide, implement and monitor the joined activities.
“The exchange of knowledge and practices between our institutions is essential for strengthening efforts to prevent corruption, and I am confident that this collaboration marks the beginning of a productive and long-lasting partnership.”, said Florin Moise
“Both countries may benefit from this agreement, as we will be able to exchange knowledge, expertise, and good practices especially on the control of assets declarations, conducting effective investigations, training and awareness raising programs related to integrity”, Ferenc Pál Biró added.
