The Integrity Authority has launched an awareness-raising digital campaign to promote reports of cases of misuse of European Union funds on its platform that ensures anonymity as well.
It has made its platform ensuring anonymous reporting available in the summer. Now, it encourages citizens to file public-interest reports on the bejelentes.integritashatosag.hu website, where they can share suspicious cases concerning projects funded by the European Union with the authority and upload relevant evidence and documents.
The platform offers the option to file reports anonymously, as a “guest”: the Integrity Authority will never see the reporting person’s username or email address. Each report created gets a new, randomly generated identifier and avatar; furthermore, the system does not store the IP address of the computer used to submit the data. Whoever chooses not to use this option, they can create a user account and follow the cases as well. The Authority opens a procedure for each report, at the end of which it notifies the reporting person of whether a more detailed inquiry will be launched.
“The lawful use of European Union funds serves the rise of Hungary, making it a common interest of ours”, says Ferenc Biró, president of the Integrity Authority. “For this reason, we want to receive as many relevant and substantiated reports as possible, as they will also enable the Authority to launch an investigation and monitor and support the lawful use of funds.”
The Integrity Authority has set an economic culture change as one of its priorities, the essence of which is to introduce zero tolerance against the misuse of public funds and corruption into society. The campaign serves the same purpose: banners appearing on online and social media platforms emphasise the importance of society’s action to fight corruption. In addition, videos providing guidance to the use of the reporting interface were also prepared.
