Economic Analyst

(Integrity and Anti-Corruption in Public Procurement)

The Hungarian Integrity Authority is an independent and autonomous public administration body responsible for safeguarding the sound financial management of the European Union budget and protecting the financial interests of the European Union. Its mission includes preventing and detecting fraud, corruption, and irregularities related to EU funds.

The authority conducts investigations, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with EU regulations and guidelines. It collaborates with other institutions, law enforcement agencies, and stakeholders to maintain transparency and accountability in the use of EU funds.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the preparation of annual and ad hoc reports in the above topics.
  • Conduct in-depth research on public procurement, integrity, anti-corruption, and related policy areas.
  • Evaluate and analyse procurement data and trends: assess risk factors associated with fraud and corruption in public procurement, identify irregularities and inefficiencies.
  • Evaluate and analyse economic and social trends, financial information and business events, interpreting economic data and interrelationships, preparing reports based on various economic trends, and carrying out academic research on economic topics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders (both domestic and international) to develop evidence-based analysis and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Hungarian citizenship: Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this position is open only to Hungarian citizens.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (economics, finance, statistics, or a related field).
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience from that minimum 2-3 years of experience in economic analysis, preferably in international organisations, academia, think tanks and/or government.
  • Strong analytical skills, preferably in both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in Hungarian and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of anti-corruption frameworks, transparency initiatives, public procurement and/or governance reforms is an advantage.
